"Today was our last puppy class! Learnt a great deal over the last 6 weeks. For those who haven't yet started, you'll have an amazing time. Ralph thoroughly enjoyed the classes, but I think I did more!
The videos Jo has put together I really recommend watching as many times as you can, I found this really useful for in-between the practical sessions.
Those of you that feel that leaving them alone is the hardest challenge ever, I absolutely feel your pain. I had to go back to basics with Ralph and had (and still have to) be very patient with him. But it does get better and easier! I've had some progress the last few weeks and its such a relief.
Big thanks Jo! Look forward to starting the foundations and focus training soon!"
"When I first contacted Jo our German Shepherd X, Sheikra, was very 'reactive' around other dogs, cyclists, runners, walkers, moving vehicles etc. She would bark and lunge and could be very hard to cope with, meaning my confidence with walking her was practically non-existent. The help and total support I've received from Jo has been invaluable. She has, with great kindness and patience, taught me all sorts of coping strategies and skills, and so, along with Sheikra's, my confidence has grown and grown. Our walks have improved immeasurably and the bond I have with Sheikra is now so much stronger. I'm very grateful to Jo for all her help, and I can't recommend her highly enough.
Thanks for everything Jo! x"

"I met Jo three years ago when I joined the puppy class with my girl Phoebe we went through to Master class and the continuous learning has really helped create a well rounded girl. When I kept Phoebe’s daughter Wilma I again went to Jo for training with lockdown occurring just as we started, the majority of our training has been online. Jo has created a fantastic amount of useful videos to watch and rewatch for practice, there is also the FB page where we can share successes and issues. Jo carried on the classes with online interactive sessions these have been brilliant for me as I have been able to discuss problems, share experiences and keep my focus on training. Jo is a fantastic trainer, she has a mind full of new ideas when you think you have tried everything she will give you a gem of an idea. Reward based training is the only way in my opinion to train, so Jo’s teaching is perfect for us."
"As a first time dog owner, Jo’s Paws4teaching Puppy Classes were a life saver (I think they’d be good even if you’re not a first time owner). Due to lockdown, our ‘classroom' sessions moved online, access to this group and the video tutorials online were amazing, providing a great structure with clear explanations of each essential skill and how to approach it - broken down in to achievable stages. It’s also been great having a group to share your experiences with and have help on hand when you are struggling, from Jo and her team, with positive and reassuring support. It’s not at all about who’s dog is the best (or worst!), it’s a friendly group where you all support each other!
We’ve just progressed to the online Foundation and Focus group, which is equally as fab and is the next step up from puppy skills, it's really helping to develop the essential skills such as recall, loose lead walking and other key life skills - these again are incredibly well structured and provide you with the skills to achieve success and if something isn’t quite ‘clicking’, there’s support on hand to get it right.
Jo’s encouragement, passion and knowledge has been invaluable in developing my skills as a dog owner. Her enthusiasm is infectious and really makes you think about your approach from both your dog and yourself as the owner. I can’t recommend Jo enough."

“ I have been taking my dogs to Jo at Paws4Teaching for 3 years now and have attended all the different sessions that she offers from Puppy class through to Master class along with Hoopers and 1 to 1 sessions. I cannot recommend her highly enough-she is brilliant! She has so much knowledge and takes the time to find out any issues you have, which seem impossible for you to resolve but with her help what seemed impossible is absolutely achievable. I have another new puppy and we are working through the classes with her as well. Jo makes training your dog enjoyable and the dogs love it!”
"We just want to say thank you! Thank you for giving us the confidence with Hodor and how to reinforce the behaviours that make him more loving than he was already. Over the duration of our journey with you we have seen him learn and develop rapidly and we are astounded by the progress. What you do is beyond 'training', you care about each and every family you work with and for that you deserve your own 'high reward'. We cannot wait to see you again at the next stage and for you to see how much our fur-baby has developed, both physically and intellectually."
"Highly recommended … Jo's first training session took place before we brought our 8 week old puppy home. Even though we are experienced dog owners we had forgotten the impact of a puppy and the advice she gave got us and our little one off to a very positive start.
Our little one now only 11 months of age receives numerous compliments from passers-by and patrons at eateries for her excellent manners for such a young dog. This has given us the confidence to keep progressing with the training at the different classes offered.
Jo stands out from all other trainers we have known, because of her up-to-date knowledge of canine behaviours, training is broken down into easy confidence building steps, along with a 'from the dogs point of view' explanation and she makes it a fun and positive experience."
"Highly recommended. When I first got Benji it was very obvious that he was a dog that needed to be kept busy so I signed him up for obedience training. This particular trainer had a very different approach to training dogs. I perserveered as at the time there wasn't many options for the area I lived in. After a few sessions instead of the obedient dog I wanted I had a dog who had developed some undesirable behavioural issues. Once we moved, I decided to sign Benji up again for obedience training and that is how we came to Jo. Ever since the first session I knew this was the trainer for us, the gentle and positive reward based training was exactly what we both needed. Benji has become a lot more enthusiastic and has a higher eagerness to learn, he is always looking forward to his next training session and so am I. He has passed all challenge levels with flying colours and any questions Jo is always so happy to answer, providing clear explanations. Can't praise Jo enough. Thank you Jo!"
"Quite simply, I would not be the dog owner I am today without Jo's patient guidance and teaching. I am proud to understand my dog and her behaviours, rather than simply having a pet who obeys my commands. That said, I am often complimented when out walking on her recall skills!
We have attended puppy, foundation, improver, and master classes. We've enjoyed dog club at weekends, hoopers, and one off training days. Jo has helped me introduce Jean to a wide range of environments and training exercises. I am confident she has strong mental and physical stimulation and - most importantly - a very happy life. I am delighted to have such a well-rounded dog, which is all thanks to Jo."
